Gavarró collection. Casa de l’Aigua (Water house) at Trinitat Nova

Barcelona.

Execution dates 2024-2025

Unpacking, inventory, identification, classification, preventive conservation, and adaptation of the Gavarró Collection. These objects will be part of the new exhibition at Casa de l’Aigua (Water house) in Trinitat Nova, at the Nou Barris district of Barcelona.

The Gavarró collection is a private collection centered around the theme of water. It features approximately 3,000 objects of diverse types, functions, ages, and provenances, making it a highly heterogeneous but rich collection.

The project included the digitization of the collection’s paper records using an OCR system and subsequent data systematization. The following tasks were carried out in the Casa del Agua storage facilities: unpacking of objects; identification with the records; cleaning and conditioning; labeling; and cataloging, resulting in a on site inventory. The objects were placed in Casa del Agua facilities for their next selection and public display.
